The Transitional Kindergarten is a program designed for children with late summer or fall birthdays who do not meet the October 1 cutoff date for Kindergarten or who might need one more year to develop physically, socially, or academically prior to entering kindergarten. The program’s integrated curriculum is a challenging step above preschool but moves at a slower pace than kindergarten. The Transitional Kindergarten program uses most of the same books and materials as the Kindergarten. 

The Transitional Kindergarten Program is a full day program that follows the academic calendar of the Academy. The school starts at 8:00 AM and dismissal is at 3:00 PM. Before care (7:00 - 7:35 AM) and after care (3:00 - 6:00 PM) are available for an additional fee. Children in Transitional Kindergarten wear full uniforms. Items with the school logo or school name as well as the plaid jumper/skirt can be purchased from either FlynnO'Hara, or our gently worn uniform store that is located at the school. Other items, such as the navy pants, shorts, and skorts as well as the white peter-pan collared blouse, navy tie and light blue shirt may be purchased from other locations that sell uniform-type clothing such as Old Navy, Target and Lands End. 

Students in the Transitional Kindergarten participate in all Academy activities including liturgies and other special events. In addition to their academic subjects, students will also receive instruction in Art, Music, Technology, and Spanish once a week and Physical Education twice a week. 

The current tuition for the Transitional Kindergarten program for the school year (September to June) can be found under Tuition Information. Enrollment in the Transitional Kindergarten is for the full academic year and tuition is calculated on a yearly basis. Tuition payments begin on July 1 with the final tuition payment due no later than April 1.

In order to register for the Transitional Kindergarten, children must be five years of age or turning five by December 31st of the academic year for which they are applying. Applications for admissions should be submitted through our website.
